CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT:
Soror Alexander became the first African American woman to be appointed Magistrate Judge, U. S. District Court of Massachusetts. She held this position from 1979 - 1995 when she became the first Chief, U. S. Magistrate Judge, serving in that position from 1996 - 2008. Soror Alexander is the longest serving Magistrate Judge in history.
