CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT:
Soror Lydia Tucker, a student at Clark College, served as secretary of the student body at Clark College, where she attended school. She was a founding member of the Committee on Appeal for Human Rights, which led protests to desegregate Atlanta facilities. In March 1960, she and other students participated in sit-ins. After the third sit-in, she was arrested and jailed for two weeks.
